Nadya Crossman-Serb is a 21 year-old Metis/Libyan Canoe-Sprinter who first began her paddling career at age eight. She followed in her older brother’s footsteps by joining the after school training group at the Canoe/Kayak Centre in her hometown, Winnipeg, MB. There, she fell in love with the sport of kayaking, and the routine of training multiple times a week. Eventually, she switched from kayaking to canoeing and found a huge passion for the high kneel canoe. From here, she would spend many afternoons watching past videos of World Championships races, studying the technique of the most talented paddlers in the world, and dreaming of one day being on the world stage herself.

At 16, Nadya was named to Team Canada, for a U17 International Regatta in Czech Republic where she won her first international gold medal. At 18, she had made the Senior National Team, and made her debut competing in sprint canoe at a senior international level. In the 2016 season, Nadya won a silver medal at the Jr. & U23 World Championships,  she and C2 partner Katie Vincent won gold at Canoe Sprint World Cup 1, at Nadya’s first ever World Cup appearance.

When Nadya isn’t training, she attends the University of Winnipeg. She can be found enjoying the local music scene, at a coffee shop, reading books, or hanging out with her family.

Looking towards the future, Nadya is aiming to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics & Paris 2024 Olympics, where women’s canoeing will be part of the Olympic program for the first time ever. Her ultimate goal in sport is to become an Olympic athlete.
